Thermal imaging applications
For the optimisation of induction heating processes (heating speed and generator power), thermographic systems have proven reliable, because they are capable of measuring the complete workpiece during the heating process.
Due to the high reproducibility being achieved at induction hardening processes, in daily operation the use of pyrometers is sufficient for an accurate inductor control.
Thermal imagers are used for instance, if:
- the complete temperature distribution of a component has to be displayed and monitored
- the temperature profile at a special location on the component has to be displayed and monitored
- the temperature differences between the top of the teeth and the bottom of the teeth of gear wheels in a multiple-frequency process have to be optimized
- several components heated by several inductors, which are coupled to one generator, require to be inspected to ensure identical temperatures.
