New Pyrometers with fibre optics for non-contact measurements on metals
The pyrometers IS 50-LO plus and IGA 50-LO plus are digital pyrometers with fibre optics for non-contact temperature measurements on metals, ceramics, graphite etc. between 250 and 2500°C.
The optical fibre as well as the exchangeable optical head are unaffected by electromagnetic interferences (e.g. induction) and can be used in high ambient temperatures up to 250°C. Two different types of optical heads for different measuring distances and very small spot sizes (min. 0.45 mm) are available. A laser targeting light enables the exact alignment onto the measuring object.
Due to their short response time of less than 1 ms these pyrometers ideally suit for the measurement of fast heating processes.
The pyrometers are equipped with a display which shows the current temperature, when in measuring mode. Moreover it displays all instrument parameters, if they are changed via the integrated keys at the instrument. Via serial interface and the provided software InfraWin the temperature can also be displayed and stored on a PC; parametrizing can also be done.
The IS 50/67-LO plus is a special version with an extremely short wavelength for the measurement of molten metals with a very high emissivity.

New Pyrometer for Aluminium Measurements IS 12-Al
Temperature measurement using infrared pyrometers in the aluminium industry has always been problematic due to the physical properties of the material. Many exotic solutions, including multi-wavelength instruments have been developed in an effort to overcome the difficulties caused by these material properties, mostly resulting in extremely complex and high cost instruments.
IMPAC Infrared has developed a new pyrometer based on the well-proven IS 12 family, specifically for the measurement of aluminium. Working at a wavelength where the material emissivity is both stable and relatively high in value (30 to 43%) the new IS 12-Al is suitable for aluminium applications such as: extrusion, rolling and billet heating etc. Using the IS 12-Al temperatures as low as 350 °C can be measured and with a range of lenses, spot sizes down to 2.2 mm can be achieved at speeds as fast as 8 ms.
Alignment to the target can be done by thru-lens sighting or by a laser targeting light. The IS 12-Al is a fully digital pyrometer ensuring high accuracy and repeatability. The pyrometer can be quickly and easily configured by the user either at the pyrometer or remotely using the RS232/485 serial interface and the InfraWin Pyrometer Software which is included in the package.

Non-contact temperature measurements not influenced by flames and combustion gas
The pyrometer IPE 140/39 from IMPAC is a special version of the IPE 140 with a spectral range of 3.9 µm. It was designed for non-contact temperature measurements of metal parts in flame heated furnaces and covers temperature ranges between 20 and 1450°C.
Like the basic IPE 140, the IPE 140/39 is a highly accurate and stabile digital pyrometer. The special spectral range avoids the influence of humidity and CO2 and enables a correct measurement through flames and combustion gases. Also humidity and CO2 do not have any influence on measurements with long measuring distances.
Another application is the measurement of glass, if a small penetration into the glass is necessary (e.g. glass drop). Measurement errors caused by partially cooled down surfaces can be avoided.
For optimal match of the instrument to the application 3 different focusable optics with extremely small spot sizes (0.7 mm minimum) are available.

IS 8-GS plus: Special pyrometer for foundries
The IS 8-GS plus is a special portable pyrometer for non-contact temperature measurement of molten metals in a temperature range of 100 ... 2000°C. In casting processes the correct measurement can only be done on the pouring stream to avoid the influence of slag.
The specially selected wavelength in the near infrared facilitates this accurate temperature measurement as molten metals have their maximum emissivity in this spectral range. Additionally the influence of changing emissivity is reduced in this range as well as interference of the measurement by atmospherical absorption is avoided. A longer response time of 0.5 s prevents the possible influence of hot sparks.
Even for longer measuring distances the easy focusable precision optics achieves small spot sizes (e.g. at a distance of 5 m the spot is only 16 mm) to allow larger safety distances between operator and pouring stream. The IS 8-GS plus is equipped with a switchable filter in the view finder to protect the eyes against the extremely bright radiation of the pouring stream.

An optimized classic: Series 140 from IMPAC
The series 140 from IMPAC Infrared GmbH is the succession of the very successful established series 120 and is a complete redevelopment. Thereby the wishes of the users and customers were taken into consideration without any compromise. The results are innovative, industrial instruments, which are able to replace the forerunner series without any problem.
This accordingly applies for example for the instruments IS 140 and IGA 140. These are digital, highly precise pyrometers for non-contact temperature measurements on metals, ceramics, graphite etc. between 250 and 3300°C. For an optimized adaptation of the instruments to the particular application, 3 different focusable-optics with very small spot sizes (from 0,35mm) are available. The perfect alignment of the measuring object is guaranteed either by a optimized thru-lens view finder or a laser targeting light. The response times (< 1 ms (500µs optional)) are very small, so that the pyrometer excellently suit for very fast applications.
The instruments combine all advantages of analogue and digital technology. A proof therefore are for example the digital interfaces RS232 and RS485 (switchable inside the instrument), as well as the analogue test current output. Moreover IMPAC now also offers the pyrometers IS 140 and IGA with integrated PROFIBUS DP interface. All parameters can be set either directly in the instrument with the built-in keyboard, or via the PC using the InfraWin software, which is included in the delivery. Thereby all settings are indicated on the built-in LC-display and/or on the PC. In the normal operation mode the display shows the current measuring temperature.

New, highly precise ratio-pyrometers
The IMPAC-Pyrometers ISR 12-LO and IGAR 12-LO are fully digital, highly precise Ratio-Pyrometers with fibre optics for non-contact temperature measurement. Ratio-Pyrometers are normally used, if a measurement through soiled glass or smoke is needed, or the measuring object is smaller than the pyrometers spot size.
The Series 12 suits at best for the contact free temperature measurement of metals, ceramics, graphite etc. between 300 and 3300°C. The response times (>= 2 ms) are very short, the spot sizes (>= 0,8 mm) are very small. All instruments feature a built-in LED-temperature display, laser targeting light, test current output and digital interface (RS232 / RS485 switchable). All instrument parameters can be adjusted directly by the device or using the included PC-Software "InfraWin". Besides 2 colour and 1 colour measurement, the Series 12 pyrometers also have a metal mode. This mode can be used for accurate measurement results for metals, of which the material parameters are not known. Fibre optics and optical heads withstand temperatures up to 250°C without additional cooling.
Typical applications are: induction heating, casting, welding, forging, sintering and annealing.
